Make your accessibility goals a reality!
Use the tool created BY people with disabilities FOR people with disabilities.
We are partnering with Jim Mull, long time wheelchair user, to present:
Trail Access Index
This streamlined tool was developed from real world experience to go beyond ADA standards. It was originally created in partnership with Fort Collins Natural Areas as the Mobility Assessment Tool, and is updated according to the latest feedback and research. It has successfully been implemented for use in many local cities and counties.
Trail Access Index
The Trail Access Index is split into four main sections: parking, signs and features, trails, and facilities. Each section has specific questions with clear guidelines to improve reliability and consistency. After you finish the assessment, the tool walks you through a custom action plan that highlights the most important accessibility improvements. Typically, we have found the audit takes about 1-2 hours per trailhead with additional time needed for trail assessments depending on length.
All users will complete an individualized 2 hour training course taught by our instructors to learn how to use the tool effectively.

Support our growth
We have goals to expand our tool to highlight the needs of a more diverse community including those with sensory, cognitive and neurodivergent needs.
Stay tuned for news on how to be a part of this development.
